In two particular states, Colorado and Washington, recreational use of marijuana has been legalized as well. According to the introduction of Vanderbilt Law Review, â€Å"Congress has the ability to overpower a state’s decision when they prohibit a permissible federal law; however, when a state discriminative a prohibited federal law, Congress does not have the ability to overpower them, but they can sway them to see in their favor† (Mikes, â€Å"This two-sided law had been widely overlooked by states until the passing of Amendment 64 in Colorado and Washington. Not only has it conflicted with federal laws, but Congress s trying to keep these states from being able to get licenses to mass produce marijuana and tax it by implementing more detailed federal policies. The White House released several reasons, including effects on adolescents, behind changing their opposition on legalizing marijuana not only for recreational use, but for medicinal use also. There is evidence that the use of medical marijuana to treat certain pain, nausea, and appetite stimulation caused by such illnesses as multiple sclerosis, cancer and AIDS can relieve or ease the patient of these symptoms temporary and has been suggested that the toxicity of this drug is less harmful then mom of the drugs currently prescribed for these particular illnesses. The inhalation of marijuana can damage the brain, heart, lungs, and immune system due to the ability of smoke to cause cancer within the body. An alternative solution that is currently being explored is oral TECH or synthetic cannabises, such as traditional and enabling. It is administered through capsules or inhalants; however, as stated in Kappa’s article, since natural TECH on the human brain and the immune system is not fully understood, the effects of oral TECH cannot be fully predicted (Kappa, et al. Considering all the negative effects on an adolescent’s brain, research for recreational purposes is viewed by many as unnecessary. The argument is to consider the growing minds of our children so we can have a productive society in the future. Negative effects found on adolescents’ causes disapproval from the voters and can negativity affect the medical research by keeping it completely illegal. Addiction to marijuana arises more often today in adolescents and adults due to the more relaxed attitudes of the risks involved as stated in â€Å"Marijuana Legalization. Marijuana, within the last couple years, has become more accessible to the general public than ever before causing increasing awareness of the topic of legalizing marijuana. It has been proven, through multiple tests, analyses, and researches, that marijuana does indeed have specific reasons for recreational use. There are those that believe that no good can come out of legalizing marijuana and therefore strongly advocate their position on banning the notion. Drug abuse and the harm it inflicts on others is a popular topic among marijuana controversies. This figure lacks a mouth; Its neck is lost in the dark as it rests lazily slept over the dark sand. We see this figure with its eye closed, with enormous eyelashes this object is left to the viewer to assume what this object is. The second central item is clocks/pocket watches that have appeared to be melted over different objects leaving a sense of lost time to the painting. The first clock/pocket watch is found drooping over the strange figure being consumed by the darkness. The other two clocks: The one that is smaller is closed and has a swarm of ants crowds together on the lid of the watch; the other enormous clock is blue and soft looking that is again melted drooping over an object in this case it is a block that would be assumed to be a table. This watch has a single fly on the face of the watch; the clock looks like it is slipping off the edge of the table. A broken tree is brought into the painting; this tree with a single branch without leaves on it sits the third clock. To the left on which it seems a rectangular wooden table although it sits on the sand incomplete. The third central item we see is an ocean bay illuminated strongly by the yellow and blue sky below this is a rocky cliff that slowly graduates down into a glass like reflective clear ocean water. A small stone in the right hand top corner projects its shade on the sand of the beach this stone is left the sea confused with the sandy desert and the reflections in the water. There is another stone in the top right hand corner just below the incomplete table that gives even more depth and shadowing to the image. The clocks are the most prominent design In Dali’s art work the persistence of memory; the drooping pocket watches possibly suggest the irrelevance of time during sleep. In other words, when we are asleep, or not conscious it is like time does not continue, only memories do and feelings do. This distortion of time can be easily seen by just about anyone who attempts to think about their own dreams and thoughts. The Persistence of Memory may have many interpretations. Some are more meaningful, others remain mysterious. Perhaps the images of the melting clocks are nothing more than ideas influenced by the Camembert cheese left for too long of a period of time on the table on a warm sunny day (as Dali had previously described his inspiration for this painting). But Dali would often make up ridiculous explanations for his paintings to purposely mislead people. But some peoples view on Dali’s painting is nothing more than a collection of ideas that are to do with the interpretation of everyday objects dreams and nightmares and the perception of reality, time, birth and death. Dali sometimes referred to his paintings as hand-painted dream photographs and The Persistence of Memory can certainly be characterized as that. Dalis paintings are psychologically deep and mentally thought out. Dali is a painter that will be remembered in history and his paintings will live on for generations to come and thousands more will admire his masterpieces.

This is a difficult and often unpopular policy and there may be some costs attached but the cost of a suit from a very ill employee because of lung cancer from secondhand smoke could be devastating financially. For those reasons the recommendation must be a smoke free policy. CDC provides full kits to allow companies to become smoke free. They are available at no charge and would help to set this new policy up in such a way as to be successful. There will also need to be a steering committee to put the process together and provide everything needed. A kick-off date will need to be chosen and advertising will need to be done ahead of time so that visitor are aware before they arrive on the doorstep. Then administration must support it. Peers Essay For this essay, I researched how peers can influence the physical, cognitive, social and personality development of their adolescent friends. In addition to this, my research also included ways the parent-child relationships can have more or less influence on an adolescent. â€Å"Peer pressure is a specific instance of social influence, which typically produces conformity to a particular way of acting or thinking,† states Jeffrey Lashbrook, professor of Sociology at State University of New York College (Lashbrook, 2000, pg. 1). Even when just considering the time adolescents spend with their peers, it really shouldn’t be too surprising the impact and influence adolescent peers can have on one another. Cross-behavior analyses of five activities—alcohol consumption, cigarette smoking, marijuana use, tobacco chewing and the adolescent’s introduction to sex were analyzed in a longitudinal study conducted by The National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health. The study found that adolescents were twice as likely to engage in a risk behavior if their friend engaged in it also. The study found that peer influence can be both beneficial and harmful. In the use of cigarettes and marijuana, there was only influence to initiate the behavior. However, for alcohol consumption, the study showed that there was equal influence to conform to friends who drank and to conform to friends who did not drink. Whereas with tobacco chewing, there was shown to be significantly more peer pressure to stop chewing than to begin chewing. This was used as evidence that teens also can protect their peers in risk activities. One of the results the study showed was, not too surprisingly, that best friends were more influential than close peers. The study concludes to say that â€Å"peer influence is a real phenomenon that takes on varying roles across adolescent risk behavior† (Maxwell, 2000, p. 1). This includes the physical, cognitive, social and personality development of the teen. As far as the ways parent-child relationships have more/less influence, I read some additional research in this specific area. In research conducted by Barnes, Hoffman, Welte, Farrell and Dintcheff, (Barnes, 2006), 6 sets of data were analyzed including interviews of 506 adolescents to determine how parental support and monitoring influenced adolescent behavior. The results of the study concluded that effective parenting and adolescents avoidance of associations with delinquent peers proved to be important factors which correlate with the decrease of alcohol misuse, other substance use, and delinquency (Barnes, 2006). Some studies I read through seem to reiterate that parents often wait for â€Å"the right time† to influence adolescents. However, in reading through the various research, it seems to indicate that those parents who remain open to communication with their children all along will have greater influence in their adolescent’s choices. For example, in an article I read titled, â€Å"Parents Communication with Adolescents about Sexual Behavior: A Missed Opportunity for Prevention,† (Eisenberg, 2006), it stated that parents often wait to talk to their teens about sex at the time they know their adolescent is in a romantic relationship. However, the article examined how it is not parallel when the teen stated they had their first sexual experience and when the parent(s) states they believe their teen will or has had his or her first sexual experience. In the various readings I have researched for this essay, I have seen this to be the case with most things in general. Often the parents believe the adolescent doesn’t know or hasn’t experienced various things when the teen states they have. The research I have read does indicate that peers can influence their adolescent peers in a variety of ways depending upon other factors. In the research I have also found that how a parent can influence their adolescent usually begins a long time before they are adolescents and can vary from person to person.

Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf For this book talk, I read an Edward Albee's play, "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf." I saw the movie version of this book, which I found excellent, so it inspired me to read the book. The book begins when George, who is an associate professor of a New England college, and Martha, who is the daughter of the college professor comes home after a faculty party. Although it is well after midnight and they are heavily drunk, Martha invites another couple, Nick who is a new and young professor in the college, and his wife Honey. The two couples continue drinking at the living room of George and Martha's house, and Martha starts complaining about George. She reveals George's failure to advance in the college even if he has an advantage as the son-in-law of the president. George tries to revenge by telling Martha's weaknesses to the guests, and the fight becomes impossible to stop making the new couple who tries to stay detached also become caught up in it. As the fight goes on and they become more drunk, Martha comes to mention about George and she's imaginary son, who has been a secret between them and a forbidden topic to tell others. Nick also tells their painful secret that he married Honey because she thought she was pregnant but that it turned out to be false. When everyone is tired and humiliated as a result, George, who was very angry about Martha's mentioning his son to the guests, he decides to tell something that will change their lives forever as a final revenge, and then the party comes to an end. The main theme of the book is the sadness and difficulties of the adult life. In the story, George and Martha cannot have a child because either of them is impotent, so they had to make up an imaginary son. Here's a quotation about their son form Martha. QUOTATION(p219) Martha's this description about him shows how much they cared for him and wanted the real one. Furthermore, they constantly fight with each other for trivial subjects even though they really want to communicate more seriously and understand deeper. Truancy

Topic 3 Truancy  is any intentional unauthorized or illegal absence from  compulsory schooling. In Malaysia truancy problem is a phenomenon among primary and secondary school students. According to Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong, reported in The News Strait Times article entitled â€Å"Study on truancy – Education Ministry† dated January, 17 2012, â€Å"A total of 110,218 students were involved in disciplinary problems. Of that figure, 72,873 were from secondary level and 37,345 from primary schools,† students were involved in disciplinary problems are rising.Reported in The News Strait Times a survey conducted by the ministry, 58. 85 per cent of truancy cases last year involved students in rural areas, as compared with 41. 15 per cent in cities. In my opinion, actions that should be imposed by the Ministry of Education to solve the problem of truancy among Malaysian school students are improve the academic approach, law enforcement authorities and organize talk or ca mpaign. First, Ministry of Education should improve the academic approach. This can be done by increasing compulsory activities such as academic and semi-academic co-curriculum in schools.Ministry of Education can improve by changing the teaching techniques such as gaming and simulation, drama, role playing and use of technology and instructional resources. Teaching with difference technique can attract students and they will not feel bored on their study. Second, authorities should enforce the law among the students who are truancy. For example, areas of existing police powers should be used by school administrators in disciplining students. The administration should take the opportunity to refer problem student to the police. After enforcing this law, students will be alert from work against this thing.Beside, Ministry of Education may organize some talks and campaign about the disadvantage of truancy. There are kind of campaigns such as â€Å"Zero Truancy Campaign†. With t his students will know the effect of truancy to their study and also their future. In my conclusion, government and the school administration should co-operate to control the phenomenon. Extended School Year Services (ESY) for Students with Special Needs

Extended School Year Services (ESY) for Students with Special Needs ESY, or Extended School Year, is additional instructional support for students with disabilities, required by the Individuals with Disabilities Act. Why is ESY necessary? Some students with special needs are in jeopardy of not being able to retain the skills they have learned during the school year unless given additional support throughout the summer. Those students eligible for ESY will receive an individualized program to support their learning and retention of skill throughout the summer holidays. What does IDEA say about ESY? Under (34 CFR Part 300) in IDEA Regulations (not the Act): Extended school year services must be provided only if a childs IEP team determines, on an individual basis, in accordance with 300.340-300.350, that the services are necessary for the provision of FAPE to the child. The term extended school year services means special education and related services that- (1) Are provided to a child with a disability- (i) Beyond the normal school year of the public agency;(ii) In accordance with the childs IEP; and(iii) At no cost to the parents of the child; and(2) Meet the standards of the IDEA  Ã‚  (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) How can I determine if a child qualifies? The school, through the IEP team, will decide if the child will qualify for ESY Services. Kant does not believe reaching happiness is the main goal of life, but instead doing good with a sense of duty is. Gravimetric Analysis of a Chloride Salt Rania Williams Nour Wehbe Purpose To discover the amount of chloride in a strange salt, in order to demonstrate regular methods used in gravimetric analysis Theory This equation describes the reaction between silver ion and chloride which results in the product silver chloride. Ag+ (aq) + Cl (aq) → AgCl (s) Silver nitrate is used to precipitate chloride because it gives the best results. AgCl Solubility in water: Silver chloride’s solubility is very low; however the salt is still soluble to some degree. If precipitate is not complete, the results will be very low. Ksp = 1.6 x 10-10 Precipitation occurs in acid to greatly reduce any interference from acid ions. These ions form co-precipitates with silver in acid containing no charged ions. Due to co-precipitates the results would be higher. Also in order for precipitation to occur in acid there needs to be some excess of silver ion at the end of the reaction to reduce the chances of silver chloride becoming more soluble. Co-precipitation would result in higher results. Description: The precipitate is heated in order to coagulate it. When it coagulates it will become a clumpy colloidal like form. In this form it will become more difficult for the precipitate to penetrate the filter paper. If the coagulate did go through, the results would be lower. If nitric acid had not been added to the precipitate it would become more vulnerable in penetrating the filter paper. If this had happened the experiment would have to be done again as there would be no way to determine the percentage of chloride in the salt. Photodecomposition: The equation for photodecomposition occurring in the air: AgCl (s) → Ag (s) + Â ½Cl2(g) When the silver chloride has dried and put into light it will decompose into chlorine and silver. If photodecomposition occurs in air, the results would be low, however if this decomposition occurred with excess silver ion in an aqueous solution there will be another reaction (3Cl2(g) + 9H2O (l) + 5Ag+ (aq) → 5AgCl (s) + ClO3(aq) + 6H3O+ (l)), which will make the results high. How much precipitate is lost by washing with 100ml fresh water? The solubility of the precipitate is very low so not much would be lost, however this still would make the results lower. Ions that may co-precipitate with chloride ion: When precipitation occurs quickly the chances of co-precipitation occurring greatly increases. Anions from some acids may co-precipitate with the chloride ion, forming co precipitates. These co precipitates will alter the results, making them CO32-, OH and NO3 Procedure The code number of the unknown salt that was placed on the station was recorded. This sample was kept for the full duration of the experiment. Using the analytical balance, 0.1175g of the sample was weighed out by difference and placed in a 250ml beaker. The beaker was labeled to avoid confusion between partners. The approximate volume of 0.1 M silver nitrate was calculated using the sample’s mass, 0.1175g. The mass of the sample was multiplied by the percentage concentration of the chloride then divided by 35.5. The result was then divided by 0.1. The result was converted into ml. 5 ml of excess was then added to the result, making the final result and approximate volume of silver nitrate added, 23ml. In the 250ml beaker with the sample, 100ml of distilled water and 1ml of 6M nitric acid was added to the beaker. 23ml of 0.1M silver nitrate was measured out in a 25ml graduated cylinder then slowly poured into the 250ml beaker. The solution was placed on a hot plate then gently stirred. The solution was stirred until it became close to boiling. In order to test for completeness the solution had a couple drops of silver nitrate poured into it to test that the entire chloride ion had been precipitated. The solution showed that it was complete. The 250ml beaker with the solution was then placed into the assigned drawer, to limit its light exposure. Using a piece of soft tissue paper the crucible which had already cooled was weighed, it had a mass of 30.6707. The vacuum filtration arrangement was set up. The solution without the precipitate was slowly poured into the filter. 5ml of 0.1M nitric acid was used for washing the precipitate. After a couple washings the precipitate was also placed into the filter. A wash bottle was used to help any remaining precipitate out of the beaker. The precipitate was again washed with 0.1M nitric acid. The crucible was then removed from the vacuum filtration arrangement. The leftover washings were disposed of. The crucible was washed once again in the vacuum filtration arrangement. The washing (mainly nitric acid) was taken to the T.A. for testing if the precipitation is complete by doing a washing with hydrogen chloride on the nitric acid. The first test showed completeness. The crucible was again latched onto the vacuum filtration arrangement to be washed with 3ml of acetone. The acetone was handed to the T.A. for disposal. The crucible was given to the T.A. to put in the oven for drying of the precipitate. The oven had a starting temperature of 110 Â °C and after 30 minutes had a temperature of 119 Â °C. The crucible was then cooled in the desiccator for 10 minutes then weighed with an analytical balance. The result was recorded. This was a result of human error, as I waited for the precipitate to cool down I did not leave it out of light and failed to ensure that there was not an excess of silver ion in my solution. My results could also be higher due to any co-precipitates from anions such as these: CO32-, OH and NO3 . The results could have also become higher due to not being washed properly. When washing the precipitate only with 3ml of acetone and 5ml of water this may have been possible. When compared with the actual result, my result was higher. My partner’s results were lower than the real value due to some of her sample being lost during filtration. Sample being lost during filtration is almost unavoidable. Even though she may not have lost a lot of her sample, her initial salt mass was just 1.002g. Losing sample from a sample that was already so small contributed to her results being lower than the actual value. She also may have not allowed for complete precipitation of the chloride ion, resulting in lower results. During the heating of her solution her precipitate coagulated but there were stills some parts of the precipitate that were very tiny were susceptible of being loss the vacuum filtration. When compared with the actual result, my partner’s result was lower. The average of my partner and I’s results were very close to the actual result, though the average of our results was still higher than the actual result. Conclusion The sample number for the unknown salt is 343. The average percentage of the chloride from two trials is 59.49%, whilst the actual percentage of chloride is 58.81%. The uncertainty for the percentage of chloride for my results was 0.2041 and 0.2430 for my partner. The precision of my results was 5.526%, whilst my partner’s was 3.214%. Other things such as the journey also turn out to be a good way of building atmosphere in the story. It is made as a non binding gesture of goodwill between the two institutions. Period of Agreement ThisMoUshallbecomeeffectiveonthedateoffinalsigningandwillberenewableevery 5 years upon the mutual consent of both parties. This MoU may be revised or cancelled  by mutual written consent by the signatories or their designated representatives. Other matters not covered by this Memorandum shall be decided by mutual agreement and may be subject to the conclusion of formal written contracts between us. The parties shall review the operation of this Memorandum on an annual basis. Purpose and Areas of Potential Collaboration DU and IMT share an aspiration to: 1. Promote the exchange of qualified graduate students, enrolled on their respective postgraduate degree programs, who will be admitted according to the entry regulations of the host institution; 2. Promote the exchange of faculty for joint teaching and research; 3. Promote collaborative research in areas of mutual interest with a view to publishing by joint authorship; 4. Problem: The problem being investigated is the relationship of sexuality (sexual and body esteem and sexual satisfaction) and psychological wellbeing (depression and self-esteem) among people with physical disabilities, and to compare these relationships with those found in able-bodied people. TR: The literature review was comprehensive to investigate the problem for this study. Research question: Can sexuality as a variable be a significant predictor of psychological well-being in both groups of respondents? Can the relationship of sexuality and well-being variables be of similar strength among people with physical disability and able-bodied respondents and in both men and women? Methods and procedures: 1196 subjects were randomly selected from America and Australia ages 18-69 years old and were identified as having physical disabilities. The following instruments were used: Demographic Questions; 21 item Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale (DASS); 10 items the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale; Sexual esteem subscale in Snell and Papini’s; Body Esteem Scale; and Sexual Satisfaction Survey; Multiple Regressions Analysis.
